Item Description
A fine quality, sharp, lustrous, Pargasite crystals with startlingly strong green color is aesthetically set on the marble matrix to create this eye-catching small cabinet display specimen. The crystal on the piece measures 3.1 cm, which is very good sized for the locality. With some decent backlighting, you can see a bit of translucency, stronger on the edges. Pargasite is an uncommon very complex silicate species and is usually a rather dull, unattractive, dark-colored rock-former, so when you get crystals of this size, sharpness and COLOR, it's a big deal. Such specimens were collected in the late 1990s to early 2000s, with none since. An excellent example of the species and locality. Valued at $1,800 in the inventory.
