Paravauxite on Vauxite (very rare)

Item Description

Here we have rarely seen small cabinet sized piece from the famous Siglo XX Mine in Bolivia featuring a "plate" loaded with small, bladed, beautiful blue color, radiating aggregates of Vauxite coated by with very pale green (nearly white) blades of Paravauxite which are coated by micro "sugary" Quartz which can be seen at the micro level. The tiny crystals have been photographed with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to show that they are truly terminated crystals and not just a mass. There is however one eye-visible Paravauxite flaring off of one edge of the piece which measures 6 mm. You can also see some tiny golden Childrenite crystals as well under magnfication. It is very difficult to obtain any specimens of these incredibly beautiful phosphates these days. This piece is from the type locality for Vauxite and Paravauxite which were originally discovered along the Contacto and San Jose veins in this mine and first described by Sam Gordon and Mark Bandy. It is so unbelievably rare to find beautifully crystallized specimens of Vauxite and Paravauxite of this size, because they only come from one mine in the world in good display specimens.
