Paravauxite coating Vauxite (very rare)

Item Description

This is a spectacular rarely seen full cabinet sized display specimen from the famous Siglo XX Mine in Bolivia featuring a "plate" filled with small, bladed, beautiful blue color, radiating aggregates of Vauxite which are coated by very pale green (nearly white) blades of Paravauxite along with micro "sugary" Quartz which can be seen at the micro level. We have photographed the crystals with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to show that they are truly terminated crystals and not just a mass. You can also see some tiny golden Childrenite crystals as well under magnification. It is very difficult to obtain any specimens of these incredibly beautiful phosphates these days from this locality, and to find a cabinet sized specimen is fantastic. This piece is from the type locality for Vauxite and Paravauxite which were originally discovered along the Contacto and San Jose veins in this mine and first described by Sam Gordon and Mark Bandy. It is so unbelievably rare to find beautifully crystallized specimens of Vauxite and Paravauxite of this size, because they only come from one mine in the world in good display specimens.
