Item Description

A striking, well-placed, 1.8 cm raised column of opposing sprays of rich yellow, highly lustrous, gemmy RARE Paradamite prisms highlights this impressive sculptural large combination from famed Mina Ojuela. Paradamite is a rare hydroxyl Zn-arsenate, the MUCH more rare triclinic dimorph of Adamite. Ojuela is the Type Locality. Another spray of Paradamite crystals, to 7 mm, sits at the top of the elongated sculptural vug lined with glassy, sparkly yellow-green Austinite crystals (an uncommon hydroxyl Ca-Zn-arsenate, a fine complement!). A 6.0 cm vug lined with more sparkly Austinite crystals on one side of the very sturdy gossan matrix is a super accessory. See the 2003 Mineralogical Record Mexico Special Issue II, Vol. 34, No. 5. An outstanding large sculptural combination with an aesthetic cluster of rare Paradamite crystals from Ojuela. Valued at $2500 at least, one would think. This is an extremely rare cabinet sized display specimen of the species from finds at least 50 years ago!
