Item Description

A gorgeous little thumbnail of stark blue Papagoite from the famous Messina Mine in South Africa. Most often this calcium copper aluminum silicate is found as inclusions INSIDE of Quartz, so to find it exposed on the surface of this specimen is certainly rare in my experience. Although this mineral was first discovered in Ajo, Arizona (it's only reported from FOUR places in the world), the specimens from the Messina Mine have set the standard for the species. This is rare opportunity to purchase Papagoite that can be examined outside of Quartz, so don't miss out. The specimen comes with a label from the J. P. Gliddon Collection.
