"Painted Lady" opal is a type of boulder opal exclusive to Andamooka and occurs on hard sandstone. This exotic, very rich and colorful large piece has beautiful layers of purple and teal-blue opal running across the front of the piece. The base and back have been slabbed and polished, so the piece displays well without aid. The back highlights the cross-bedded laminations of the shallow marine Cretaceous-aged sandstone. White fluorescence.
