Item Description
Otavite is cadmium cabonate and is one of the rare species the renowned Tsumeb Mine is famous for and is also the Type Locality. This is a very subtle, yet sculptural and important rare combination miniature. The otavite is the dense clusters of white microcrystals visible on the lower front, side and back of the piece. Banded bubbly, botryoidal malachite covers the matrix and is nicely accented with a sprinkling of tiny, glassy cerussite crystals. From a major rarites collector, who confirmed the otavite by XRD. Value of this rich combination rarity should be $500-1000. Most otavite sold on the market is simply not the real deal, and each piece must be analysed to believe it.
