Item Description

A fine, sharp, 3.1 cm, pink/creamy, simple orthoclase crystal dominates the landscape of smaller orthoclases accented with quartz crystals. The sawed and polished base is granite. This showy piece is from the famous locality at Baveno. This area lends its name to "Baveno" twinned feldspar crystals, and is one of the most well known feldspar localities in the world. Highly representative older material from this classic locality from the Bob Trimingham Collection, whose label states the piece was once sold by Anton Berger of Vienna and Willard Perkin (Perky Box fame).
