Item Description
Moonstone is a popular name for pearly and opalescent microcline although some moonstone could be orthoclase, but data are few. This Quebec specimen, from the collection of rarities specialist Josef Vajdak is attributed to be the much rarer orthoclase varietal. The blocky, translucent, tan crystals have a distinct pearlescent luster. Orthoclase, itself is rare from Quebec and this is even rarer material. Well-crystallized microcline specimens are also very uncommon from Quebec.
