Item Description

Choice cluster of twinned Orthoclase crystals from the very obscure location of Lemauvais Pas, A'chir Ridge on the Isle of Arran in Scotland. The consistent tan color for the Orthoclase is so representative for the species both here and elsewhere, the largest of the crystals is 4 cm, and the luster is good. The twinning planes are quite evident, but the real star of the show is the vivid, pinkish-red fluorescence, which is outstanding for Orthoclase. Recently deaccessed from the Tim Sherburn collection.
