Item Description
A strange and rare specimen of very well-crystallized Orthoclase with a given locality of Miyamoto on the label. Now Orthoclase isn't reported from this locality, and frankly, crystallized Orthoclase is not commonly seen from Japan, so this could very possibly be from another locality. With that said, this showy display specimen features, blocky, sharp, VERY lustrous, beige colored crystals of Orthoclase measuring up to 2.7 cm on Quartz / Feldpsar matrix. Great quality all around, and very attractive, especially from the standpoint of a fine Japanese Orthoclase. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#5291). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
