Item Description
Superb, and quite rare, this German pseudomorph is from theĀ Erzgebirge's border region with Bohemia. The equant trapezohedron has been preserved remarkably well, with only a small amount of edgewear that hardly affects the impressiveness of the piece. Considering the area in the Erzgebirge, I think it entirely possible that this pseudo may actually be after Analcime rather than Leucite (both can have the identical trapezohedral form). Either way, this is a terrific pseudomorph from the famous mining region. Better in person, as it is so 3-diemsnaional that photos convey it poorly. A rare, large, important replacement pseudomorph from a classic region of mining history. As to value, I have seen small ones for $200-500, but this is ten times larger than others I have seen.
