Item Description
A classic and HARD TO FIND Carlsbad twinned Orthoclase from this locality in Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany. The piece features classic penetration twinning of the beige colored crystals. The piece is in great shape, save the bottom where it was removed from the pocket wall. It's crystallized on the front and back, and the faces on the sides of the piece are fairly sharp. The piece seems to have a preferential coating of another mineral (possibly more Feldspar) on some faces. I have never seen one of these twins in person, and if you collect twins, worldwide feldspars or German minerals, don't miss out on this one. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#3539). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
