Orthoclase (Carlsbad Twin)

Item Description

A wonderful and classic "floater" Orthoclase specimen from the lesser known locality in the Goodsprings District of Nevada showing the well-defined, penetration twinning form. Carlsbad twins often exhibit 2 elongate individuals separated by a single composition plane. The individuals differ in extinction between crossed polars. The piece has a reddish-beige color and is one of the very few pieces of this material that we've encountered. A wonderful representative specimen of these hard to find Feldspars. Not seen often on the market, and certainly worthwhile for any Feldspar collector to pick up for their collection.
