Orpiment with Baryte

An old specimen now, from finds we saw over a decade ago, this is a gorgeous contrasting piece with sharp blades of baryte perched on orange orpiment crystals. The orpiment contrast is unique, and makes the baryte really sparkle and leap out to the eyes. Generally, as this is fragile material and a fragile species, they are not perfect - this does have some very small rubs, among other areas that only look rubbed but are flat laying orpiment crystals atop the rounded orange orpiment. Yet, for the size and aesthetic, it is in good shape relative to others. An exceptional display sized specimen in this size range, it is from the Gary Weaver collection (purchased 2008 when contemporary), and is valued $1200-1500.
