Gorgeous, gemmy and lustrous burnt-orange orpiment crystals to a large 4.0 cm with striking yellow highlights and sharp chisel terminations form a showy and excellent two-sided rib from the famous Quiruvilca Mine of Peru. Pieces of this outstanding quality came out from the 1970s to 1981, with none since. This piece is in excellent condition, for its size, with only very trivial periphery wear. Ex Bob Trimingham Collection. Quiruvilca Mine orpiment of this quality is comparable to any worldwide locality, including the well-known 2001 find at the famous Twin Creeks Gold Mine of Nevada.
