These gorgeous Russian orpiments are possessed of one of the brightest and juiciest orange-red hues you will find in the mineral kingdom. They form in sparkly, ball-like clusters, which, observed closely, are actually extremely gemmy, euhedral crystals stacked closely together - of a higher quality, in fact, than even the famous Nevada orpiments - only smaller. The bit of periphery wear is noted, but is certainly a very modest detraction to the overall impact of this striking piece. The contrast of the orpiment on the banded white matrix is dramatic!
