Orpiment (classic 2001 find, superb for size range!)

A showy and classic orpiment miniature from the 2001 find at Cut 62 of the mine, one of the major producing areas. An impressive 2.5 cm angled crystal dominates the mounded cluster of gemmy, extremely lustrous, rich golden-yellow color crystals with textbook chisel terminations. These are world-class orpiments and this is an excellent example. The bit of noted bruising and contacting is certainly only a modest detraction. The piece displays beautifully without aid.
