Ore Vein Section (ex Rich Kosnar Collection)

Item Description

A very rich and rarely seen ore vein section from the famou Idarado Mine in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado. The piece is predominantly Chalcopyrite, but also shows sections of white Quartz and an unknown grey mineral (could be one of several sulfides, e.g., Galena, Tetrahedrite, Petzite, etc.) The strong golden color of the Chalcopyrite with the characteristic "peacock" iridescence. This is by far the best example of this hard to find material that I have seen, and virtually impossible to replace since the mine is completely shut down. A great piece for any collector of ore samples/sections from classic localities.
