Item Description
A striking and very rare orange creedite with gearksutite specimen. Gearksutite is a rare complex aluminium salt, being a late stage, secondary fluoride. The bottom of this creedite pincushion is very richly covered with sharp, dagger-like, frosted, white, gearksutite crystals to about 9 mm. Crystallized gearksutite in itself, is very rare, as it is usually massive or nodular. This specimen is from a brand new lot brought out by Mike New in August of this year, just before the Denver Show and we obtained the lot. Mike just had this material analysed and confirmed as gearksutite. Only a couple of dozen of the more than 1000 specimens we obtained have gearksutite on them! Getting back to the creedite, this ball of creedite is covered with gemmy, burnt-orange crystals to 1.7 cm, which is large for the locale. Good creedites were rare and expensive from ANY locality, until these orange ones were found in Mexico. Suddenly, you could own a really fine creedite without selling your house to get it. So if you do not have one, well, here is another chance to get a really good, really rare combination piece. This striking and aesthetic specimen does have some brusing, but considering its geometry and rarity, it is very minimally detracting. The is an excellent, very near floater cluster of creedite, with only a few small points of attachment! This is a very showy, puffball-like cluster of creedite crystals with rare gearksutite. STRIKING and RARE combination material from a brand new find. No market has been tested for value yet, on it. Note that this zone is now inaccessible to a cave-in, and more mining at this new depth is not expected (anytime soon)
