Item Description
A beautiful showy thumbnail-sized piece of these attractive and distinctive Opals from Monok, Hungary. These specimens are rarely seen on the market, and it's a shame because despite the fact that they're some of the lesser known "Hyalite" Opals (the material is now referred to as Opal-AN), they're some of the most beautiful examples of the material that I can recall from anywhere. This piece features a fine quality, gemmy, colorless, semi-spherical "bead"-like aggregate of Opal-AN beautifully sitting in an opening in the Rhyolite matrix. The Opal group measures 1.6 cm at its longest dimension. If you look closely, you'll see the tiny "spherules" on the surface of the Opal group, but when you look at the overall aggregate, it really resembles something organic like a brain coral. To top it off, the Opal glows with an electric green hue under SW UV light. A wonderful, fine quality eye-catching example of this seldom seen material and a must have for any fan of Opals, fluorescent minerals or just unusual specimens.
