This Boi Morto Mine in the northeastern state of Piauí, Brazil is a lesser-known Opal-producing locality, typically producing multi-color Crystal Opal, but THIS piece is a rarely seen specimen of Fire Opal. This specimen has a vibrant red-orange color with good internal gemminess. A rare locality specimen of Opal from a hard to find locality. Specimen weight is 5.8 grams. From the collection of Vasco Trancoso, a medical doctor and prominent mineral collector from near Lisbon, Portugal (https://www.mindat.org/user-11954.html).
