Opal Triplets (matched pair)

Opal is one of the most diverse gems out there. It's one of the few stones that looks just as attractive when it's crystal clear as it does when the stones are opaque. Despite it's rather simplistic chemistry, Opals show a great range of color in many varieties. Here we have a matched pair of "oval cabochon" Ovals from Australia featuring flashes of gold, blue, purple and green, set against a dark blue background. When these stones are strongly lit, they show great color. Please note that these stones are triplets, which means they are set against a black backing (possibly Onyx) and is "capped" with what is either clear glass, Quartz or plastic to help allow the color to better show through.
