Item Description

Fine quality, well-formed, egg-shaped opal "thunderegg" with a rind from the well-known deposit at Opal Butte, Oregon. The very glassy, translucent opal colors range from a pleasing light lavender to golden-yellow and has a jelly-like appearance. The opal really glows with golden-yellow color, when backlit. Modest neon-green SW UV fluorescence. Mass is 381 grams - large and very showy! An excellent and rich thunderegg from the locale. Ex Rice Museum of Northwest Minerals.
