Item Description
A really cool and very likely unique "rough and cut" set of gem quality and stable Opal pseudomorphing / replacing petrified wood from Eagle Creek in Clackamas County, Oregon. The stone has a lovely "Pear" cut with a mixture of warm hues (mostly orange / golden) with semi-dendritic black inclusions. The rough portion features an almost "Tiger's Eye" looking form of Opal with a dark background and flashes of golden streak which are replacing petrified wood. You can see both the Opal and the wood side by side on the piece for a great contrast. A really special and one-of-a-kind rough and cut set from this lesser known locality in Oregon. Comes with a special write-up about this special find by the intrepid field collector of this curious material. From the collection of Dr. James "Jim" Houran, noted thumbnail mineral collector, gemstone collector and a speaker at our annual Dallas Mineral Symposium.
