Item Description
A classic piece of the famous Precious Opal replacing Petrified Wood from the renowned locality at Virgin Valley. This piece shows VERY gemmy, highly colorful Precious Opal patches which shows bright color flashes of red, gold, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. The Opal needs a strong light to show off the color, but it's really pretty when viewed up close. This material is nearly impossible to obtain these days, and is very worthwhile for collectors becuase it's not just a mineral specimen, nor a gem specimen nor a fossil, but a combination of all three. Ex Kay Robertson Collection. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
