Item Description
A RARE, colorful and striking banded opal specimen from Borovina, a suburb of Trebic city. Mineral specimens of any species are VERY RARE from here. A rich brick-red layer caps the alternating ivory and light brown layers of the sculptural tapered wedge. The impressive layers look like varves, any form of repetitive sedimentary rock stratification, either bed or lamination, that was deposited within a one-year time period. Choice, rare and colorful material from Czech collection. The piece looks great from either direction.
