Item Description
Opal is one of those minerals that is found all over the world in a wide variety of colors. Despite the fact that the mineral is not crystallized, it's incredibly beautiful which is amplified by the fact that it's one of the few minerals that is just as appealing when it it's transparent as when it's opaque. Back in 2018, a good friend of ours in Peru sold us a small parcel of these beautiful pink Opals. The specimens have a botryoidal form with a soft, flowing, almost ethereal appearance, sometimes with a "waxy" luster. When exposed to SW UV light, you can see an eye-catching neon-green fluorescence creating by a minor amount of Hyalite Opal (now called Opal-(AN)). This particular piece is special because at it's core shows a pink color, along with a beautiful secondary overgrowth of gorgeous lavender Opal to create a very attractive bi-colored specimen. I really love the color combinations that can be seen when the piece is backlit. I haven't seen much of this material on the market, and I think it's incredibly beautiful and eye-catching for Opal in terms of color and form.
