Item Description
Opal is known from hundreds of world localities in a wide variety of colors. Interestingly, it's one of the few minerals that is just as appealing when it it's transparent as when it's opaque. A small parcel of specimen was discovered in 2018 in the Pisco Province of the Ica Department of Peru that produced these beautiful pink Opal. The material shows an almost botryoidal form with a soft, flowing, almost ethereal appearance. When exposed to SW UV light, you can see an eye-catching neon-green fluorescence creating by a minor amount of Hyalite Opal (now called Opal-(AN)). What makes this piece special is that it's not only pink in color, but shows a beautiful secondary overgrowth of gorgeous lavender Opal to create a very attractive bi-colored specimen. I really love the color combinations that can be seen when the piece is backlit. Individual "balls" are hard to isolate, but I found one group that measures 1.1 cm across. I haven't seen much of this material on the market, and I think it's incredibly beautiful and eye-catching for Opal in terms of color and form.
