Item Description
Opal is one of those minerals that looks as beautiful and impressive when it is opaque as when it is water clear. The amazing range of this material (considering the simplistic chemistry) makes it a cool mineral, and that's saying a lot considering the species does not even have any crystal form! Recently, I obtained a small parcel of precious Opal from Honduras, The Opal from this Gracious O Dios Mine have been mined for over 150 years, and have proven to be some of the more attractive yet lesser known from the Western Hemisphere. This piece features a very attractive patch of multicolor Opal in matrix which shows flashes of red, orange, yellow blue and green when strongly lit with a flashlight or held in the sunlight. This piece could end up being a great bargain for one of you lucky bidders out there who do not have a piece of this material in your colleciton. Not necessarily a gemstone, but still a cool rough piece that could easily be polished into an eye-catching gem.
