Item Description
Opal is one of those minerals that looks just as interesting when it's opaque as when it's transparent. This piece is a beautiful carved specimen from Coober Pedy featuring wonderful Precious Opal which shows vibrant multi-color flashes of chartreuse, green, aqua, teal and purple when the piece is rotated in the light. A wonderful showy example of this well-known classic material. The piece is nearly 100% solid Opal, only a small amount of host rock is present. It's difficult to convey in photos or even a video the wonderful colors that are seen in this piece, and it's certainly The supply at this famous locality has been exhausted as mining here is no longer profitable or commercially successful on any scale.
