Opal-AN (''Hyalite'' Opal) on Orthoclase

Item Description

The Erongo Mountains have been the source for some gorgeous specimens of gem Aquamarine, beautifully colored Fluorite and some wild Amethyst / Smoky Quartz specimens, but occasionally we'll see a piece of what used to be called Hyalite Opal (now it's Opal-AN) trickle out. This specimen features attractive colorless, gemmy "bead"-like spherules of Opal-AN sitting atop cream colored Orthoclase crystal matrix. The largest Orthoclase crystal is actually a Carlsbad twin! Like virtually all of the Opal-AN pieces from this area, this one shows attractive green fluorescence under UV light. A showy and good quality display specimen of this uncommon material.
