When it comes to Opal, some of the finest and most valuable stones are those from Australia. Opal has a very simple chemistry, but it's is one of the few gems that can be found in singular colored stones, or can exhibit all colors of the rainbow at once. It's also one of the few stones that looks just as attractive when it's crystal clear as it does when the stones are opaque. This gem is shows flashes of orange, yellow, red, blue and green set against a dark blue background. When this stone is strongly lit, it shows great color. Please note that this stone is a triplet, and is set against a backing with a thin Quartz "cap" to help allow the color to better show through. Enjoy.
