Item Description
Opal is one of the most diverse gems out there. It's one of the few stones that looks just as attractive when it's crystal clear as it does when the stones are opaque. Despite it's rather simplistic chemistry, Opals show a great range of color in many varieties. This stone shows a vibrant and beautiful array of colors featuring a blending of strong blue, green and purple hues with small flashes of bright red, gold and green along the edges. This "Triangle Cabochon" stone is a solid Opal, which typically indicates a higher value on the market as opposed to doublets and triplets, which are set against backings to increase their color. To find a patch of Opal in a stone with such a uniform (equant) shape, is exceptionally uncommon, and this is not just an ordinary Opal. It's a bigger stone with great color and form, not to be missed! It would certainly sit in the center of a piece of jewelry to make a great pendant. For the $50 starting bid, you can't go wrong with this gem, considering it was valued at $581.25 retail. Enjoy.
