Item Description

A dramatic, extremely rich, two-sided, CABINET specimen festooned with bowtie-like balls of super sparkly and gemmy, tan, elongated orthorhombic crystals of olmiite from the NEW, Fall 2008 find at the famous Nchwaning II Mine of South Africa. The olmiite are richly and beautifully accented with very glassy and lustrous, calcite scalenohedrons. The olmiites and calcites rest on a wedge of sturdy matrix. This is an outstanding, large example from this find and it really glows a beautiful tan with good light. Olmiite was formerly known as poldervaartite, prior to recent extensive testing. Valued at $1000-1250 and displays super-well from three views.
