Item Description

A lovely specimen of Olmiite from the type locality hosting good quality, orange-peach colored, well-crystallized "balls" on minor matrix. A bit of a dark coating of either manganese or iron oxide can be seen on select faces of some Olmiite crystals. The largest "ball" measures 1.8 cm across. This mineral is truly found in one part of the world in fine display specimens, and the color and style are so distinctive and unique that it really stands out as one of the most significant NEWLY discovered minerals in the recent memory. Keep in mind that virtually all of these specimens were originally labeled as being Poldervaartite, which now is an exceptionally rare species by comparison. Without the specimens from the N'Chwaning Mines, most people would have no knowledge of the species Olmiite. I tend to think of these specimens the same way I do Pentagonite, which is to say that they are both incredibly rare and beautiful species with clearly eye-visible crystals, and finest specimens truly come from one place in the world.
