Item Description

A gorgeous, equant, and sharply terminated peridot crystal with juicy lime-green color. It is transparent to translucent and extremely attractive in person, especially when backlit. The lightly frosted crystal is also included with hair-like ludwigite needles. This is technically a doubly terminated, floater crystal from Soppat, Pakistan - a beautiful modern classic though somewhat rarer of late than in the 90s! The base is contacted, but has only modest bruising on the sides. These are some of the finest peridot crystals in the world available to collectors. No world locality has produced the quality and quantity of euhedral peridot crystals like Soppat. This is a high, remote mountainous region that is literally accessible only a few months of the year, forbidding even by tribal standards here. There is a lot of intrinsic gem quality, 'cutter' material. These were relatively common for a short while and now are hard to get in this quality compared to simply reference level specimens. An outstanding peridot specimen and valued at $1000-1200. 26 grams.
