Item Description

An old, rare and unusual looking solid olivenite specimen from the famous Wheal Gorland. This very soft mammilary piece has a vug lined with sparkly fibrous green olivenite. The remainder of the piece is very soft massive, greenish-gray olivenite. This strange varietal is called "wood olivenite" or wood copper. Undoubtably old-time material, but no proof. Primary copper production was from 1815-1851, but could have come from the 1906-09 mining.
