Item Description

Some of the finest examples of Olivenite came from various localities in Cornwall. In fact, the type locality for the species is in Cornwall. This small cabinet specimen is a good representative piece of this beloved copper arsenate featuring a small "spray" of dark greenish-brown prismatic crystals of Olivenite with individual crystals measuring up to about 4 mm associated with sparkling, gemmy, olive-green colored micro crystals of what appears to be Pharmacosiderite on oxidized matrix. The minor blue material is possibly Ferriturquoise or less likely Pseudomalachite. The Olivenite crystals can be seen with the naked eye, but the other minerals are best seen under magnification, and we've done our best to illustrate them in the photos. A great old time classic specimen from Cornwall, and very difficult to find on market today.  Special thanks goes out to Tony Lee for reaching out and helping us correctly identify the species on this specimen.
