Item Description
This is a large and VERY RICH specimen of olivenite from new finds at this new locality - still not very well known to the outside world. I only just recently found the mine name (previously they were labelled simply as the Ibitiara lcoality nearby). This olivenite is a large coverage of flat-laying bladed crystals, on red gossan matrix. It comes from the same locale (same matrix) as the malachite elsewhere in this auction. Time will tell how many of these come out, but this may very well turn out to be a major example for a Brazilian oliveneite, based on the few other sparse samples I have seen (and you can see more on MINDAT). This one seems, far and away, to be a high quality and richly covered specimen for the locale. It is hard to value such a thing, especially so early in mining ventures, but we think $750-950 a fair range.
