Item Description

Rich and showy small cabinet combination from the well-known extinct As-Cu-Au-Pb-Ag-Zn-W-Ba (baryte) Gold Hill Mine of Utah. The sculptural 5.0 cm vug in the quartz-rich matrix hosts three desirable species of the secondary minerals of copper and other metals, for which the mine is famous. The rim of the vug hosts striking rich green sprays of acicular Olivenite crystals and clusters of green botryoidal Conichalcite. The vug is filled with contrasting aggregates of tiny, sparkly, translucent burnt-orange Beudantite crystals. See the 1993 Mineralogical Record article in Vol. 24, No. 1. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection, a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. He passed away in 2020.
