A fine, classic, old-time Olivenite specimen from the mid-1800s heyday at the Wheal Gorland in Cornwall. The radial sprays of light green Olivenite crystals combine to form a dense, botryoidal layer on top of the Quartz-rich matrix. The luster of the Olivenite is exceptional, creating a sheen to the surface that simply glistens. Primary production at Wheal Gorland was over by 1851, so that will give you an indication of the historic and venerable nature of this choice, small cabinet piece. OLD label included. It is worth noting that the actual type locality for Olivenite is nearby, within the Cornwall district. This is a superb display quality specimen for the material, especially in this size range. Valued $750-950. From the extensive collection of Bob Reynolds, who cherished both minerals and fossils as he collected. Bob is a prolific author and has had several curating positions in museums.
