An impressive and very sculptural large open-ended combination pocket in basalt from the well-known extinct quarries at Pune. Numerous, soft to-the-touch, spiky, creamy Okenite puffballs, to about 3.2 cm, are aesthetically scattered on the floor, walls and roof of the vug. Glassy, translucent, gray-white Gyrolite balls, to 4.0 cm, are nicely scattered on all sides of the vug. An earlier generation of small white Gyrolite balls and starkly contrasting pastel-yellow Stilbite richly and dramatically carpet the interior of the vug. The noted periphery wear around the edges of the pocket are certainly a minimal detraction of this outstanding large combination. Most of them were found and brought to market from near Pune, the older quarries worked in the 1980s and early 1990s, and now under parking lots and buildings. 2964 grams or 6.5 pounds mass.
