Superb and rare old-time combination from the famous and extinct Malad Quarry. The piece has exceptional symmetry and form. A fabulous, 5.3 x 5.2 cm, creamy compound "puffball" of striking soft-to-the-touch, felt-like Okenite hairs is beautifully and dramatically set on the massive Prehnite "porch" covered with striking balls of glassy, bladed Gyrolite.The soaring population of Mumbai closed the quarries in the area. ex Cook Collection. We feel very lucky to have picked up the large collection of Bill and Anne Cook of Cleveland, recently. It is a tribute to their long efforts, how many interesting minerals and old localities were preserved and carefully labelled so you can see them now. This piece does not have a Cook label but came in the collection purchase, and simply lost its label. Bill and Anne collected for at least 60 years. Outstanding and RARE older very artistically styled Indian combination material from the Malad Quarry.
