Ocean Jasper / Orbicular Jasper

Ocean Jasper is the trade name given to colorful Orbicular Jasper, most famously found at Marovato near the northwestern coast of Madagascar. The entry on mindat.org states that, "This is not strictly a jasper but a highly silicified rhyolite or tuff". The actual Jasper component of the material is the spherical (orbicular) formations which are often polished to show off their beauty. This piece is a very good sized sample of this attractive material featuring a multitude of colors from pinks to dark greens to gentle golden and cream colored tones. Specimen weight is 167.4 grams. One of the bigger pieces we've had to offer in recent memory.
