The well-known Pedra Preta pit at Brumado, a large open pit magnesite mine has easily produced the world's finest examples of Novackeite-1, a rare hydrated Mg-U-arsenate, a member of the Autunite Group. An impressive large 2.8 cm cluster of lustrous, pretty pastel-yellow parallel-growth plates is very attractively set on the sculptural blocky matrix of oxide-tinted magnesite with an included smoky quartz crystal section. GLOWING yellow-green fluorescence under both SW and LW UV light. Such extraordinary specimens came out in the 1970s, with none since. Specimens of this size and quality are RARE and are very seldom on the market. This important and rare Brazilian specimen was formerly in the collection of Dr. Miguel Romero # 5629, who assembled the world's finest collection of Mexican minerals (he was also a senator in the Mexican Congress!
