Item Description
It's important to note that although specimens from the Lime Crest Quarry are found in the Franklin Marble, this locality is not part of the Franklin Mining District. This locality dates back to 1895 and was actually owned / operated by Thomas Edison in the early 20th century. This piece is a wonderful example of the classic Norbergites from Lime Crest featuring a fairly sharp, 1.3 cm, brownish-orange colored orthorhombic crystal of Norbergite sitting on massive white Calcite / marble matrix. A good overall specimen of these elusive, yet well-known specimens from New Jersey. If you collect rare minerals, thumbnails or specimens from New Jersey, don't pass up this attractive piece, as they are rarely offered for sale on the market.
