Item Description

A rich and uncommon combination ore specimen from this famous mining district. A thick vein of globular to massive, reddish nickeline and a gray ore mineral (probably nickelskutterudite) and quartz rests against wall rock. Not pretty to look at, but a very rich and uncommon example of the ore species from this extinct mine. The Matioli label says Graf Hohenthal Schacht, Eisleben, Thuringia. The mine is actually in Saxony-Anhalt. Rich and hefty ore at 417 grams mass.
