Item Description

A classic and aesthetic specimen of Neptunite from the famous and now closed Gem Mine in California, the source of not only the best crystals of Neptunite ever found, but also the world's finest Benitoites. The two minerals are "staples" from this locality to be sure, and they are now highly sought after by collectors, since very little is available on the market today. This piece hosts fine, sharp, highly lustrous, prismatic crystals of dark reddish-black Neptunite measuring up to 1.6 cm long which are sitting on a layer of white Natrolite on host rock matrix. It's rare to find such a showy arrangement of crystals like this, especially with good aesthetics and only minimal damage. The central portion of the piece has incomplete/interrupted growth where the Natrolite was dissolved away, exposing the Neptunites underneath. A great pickup for any fan of this material. You don't see hardly any good Neptunites on the market anymore these days, so don't miss out on a piece of this fast-disappearing material. Priced in the inventory at $1,250.
