Item Description
High grade Nephrite Jade is RARE from any of the six localities listed by MINDAT in Fremont County, Wyoming for the species. This is an impressive sawed and polished lapidary quality nodule of rich green nephrite. Nephrite is a rock comprising mostly massive microcrystalline to cryptocrystalline felted amphiboles of the tremolite - actinolite series. Nephrite is one of the two rocks termed as jade, the other being jadeitite = jadeite jade, consisting mostly of jadeite (MINDAT). An exceptionally RARE specimen of high quality nephrite from Wyoming. 561 grams or 1.2 pounds mass. Ex R.D. Mushlitz Collection.
